DESIGN

Aqua Sierra Controls, Inc. (ASC) is a design and construction systems integrator. Our professional strong points allow us the capability of looking at a clients project application and turning it into a working process. this includes complete electrical, mechanical and instrumentation design. Including autocad blue prints and submittals ready for customer approvals. We also provide coordination with cities, counties, state and federal government agencies to gain permits and approvals where necessary. Process systems that we have designed include:

  • Computerized telemetry SCADA systems.
  • In ground and above ground pH control systems.
  • Industrial wastewater effluent flowmeter and automatic sampling systems, including flume prepackaged manholes.
  • Industrial process wastewater package treatment systems for BOD and TSS removal.
  • Complete sewer lift stations with automatic controls and well controls packages.
  • Process controls for steam and gas flow systems, including mass flow
  • PLC logic systems for all types of processes, conveyor systems, batch and loading systems, filter back wash, and compound controls using multi level mathematical calculations.
  • Chemical feed systems for liquid or gas feed. using chlorine, sulphur dioxide, caustics, and acids to name a few. also included would be ozonation and ultraviolet.
  • Instrument and electrical control panels, stainless, fiberglass and painted steel. NEMA 1 thru 4x

CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION

ASC currently holds a state of California contractors license number 474023. The license is registered as a (c10) electrical general and a (b) builder general. under these classifications ASC can provide a multitude of construction services. and by sub contracting other trades we have the ability to provide every thing from construction of buildings to installing under ground pipelines. We use these construction capabilities to carry out our design work to the finished product.

Some of the work we have been asked to provide includes:

  • Providing and installing variable speed drive motor controls.
  • Furnishing and installing electrical motor control and distribution panels
  • Providing and installing pipline venturi tubes and orifice plates for closed pipe flow metering.
  • Excavation and installation of metering manholes for industrial process wastewater and storm drain systems.
  • Stainless piping work for the food industry in conjunction with the automatic process control system.
  • Structural assembly of tanks and treatment systems, including rotary screens and conveyors systems.
  • Construction wiring for high voltage and low voltage systems from 12 VDC to 480 VAC 600 volts.
  • Installation of telemetry and in plant SCADA systems, including computers, PLC, radios, antennas and other related cabinetry.
  • complete control and electrical panel layout, fabrication and installation of instruments and controls.
  • Construction associated with retrofitting existing process’s with new equipment, piping, electrical and instruments.
  • Construction including concrete pads, buildings, excavation and other below grade work.

TROUBLESHOOTING AND REPAIR

Instrumentation and process control systems generally operate the majority of the time in automatic, however they do from time to time require repair.  Some times these repairs are given emergency status because of the nature of the problem or the inability of your system to support down time. It’s during these times that Aqua Sierras Control technicians shine. All of our technicians are required to have a minimum of 5 years field experience with supporting technical school certification. Our emergency services are offered 24 hours per day 7 days per week should you not be able to solve your problem on your own.

Some of the troubleshooting we have been asked to provide is.

  • Repair of defective circuit boards for various types, all makes and models relating to industry instrumentation.
  • Troubleshooting electrical wiring, in panels and underground.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing all types of flow instruments, closed pipe and open channel. magmeters, ultrasonics, bubblers, clampon devices, etc.
  • Pumps, pumping systems and motor drives, chemical, water, sewage, condensate, etc.
  • Automatic electrical and pneumatic valve actuators.
  • Automatic control systems utilizing PLC control and interface I/O modules.
  • Analytical instruments, pH, conductivity, chlorine residual, acid concentration, turbidity, DO
  • Instruments including recorders, differential press, pressure and temperature transmitters.

CALIBRATION

ASC provides calibration and accuracy certifications to meet NIST standards and ISO 9000 requirements. All of our test equipment is recertified and traced every year and/ or as required by special project.

All instrument calibration results are logged into our procal 2000 database for historical filing and accuracy determination. Every instrument calibrated for any customer is inventoried by make, model and serial number of the device and where the device is located in the customer's facility. Calibration accuracy statements are prepared and printed from our computer and are reviewed by the field technician that provided the calibration for accuracy. If acceptable the report is signed and mailed to the customer.

In order to stay current with technology we constantly purchase state of the art test equipment to facilitate the calibration of your instruments in a timely manor. Some of these instruments just to name a few.

  • Oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, clampon transitime flow meters
  • Frequency counters and generators, watt meters, clampon ammeters
  • Power supplies, Variac, digital gages, Druck press/vac calibrators
  • Open channel flow meters, wastewater samplers, magmeter calibrators.
  • Rosemount and Yokogawa smart calibrators, pulse duration calibrator. calibrators for Milltronics, Leeds and Northrup, Bif, Hach chemical, underground wire tracers.
  • Dead weight testers, wind velocity, temperature baths, manometers
  • Pitot tubes for up to 96" pipeline testing.
  • Ackron flow meter test bench with certified tanks. Test flow meters under actual flow conditions up to 4 inches in size. Disc type, turbine, propeller, and magmeters.

Some instruments serviced and calibrated by our technicians are: AGM electronics, DAQ, Data Flow Systems, Honeywell, Foxboro, Badger, Leeds and Northrup, Fischer & Porter, Milltronics, ISCO, Bristol, Autocon, Robertshaw, Cla-valve, Taylor, Wallace&Tiernan, Capitol Controls, Ecometrics, Sparling, Seametrisc. LMI, Prominent, Allen Bradley, Monarch, Yokogawa, just to name a few.

MAINTENANCE PROGRAMS

Aqua Sierra has always felt that before an instrument or an automatic control system is in need of repair a preventative maintenance program should be setup to maintain the equipment’s condition. Even if the system is old and has been repaired before, chances are maintenance could have headed off those costly repairs. Preventative maintenance can save you money by eliminating those unnecessary emergency call outs and prevent unexpected down time due to unforeseen failures of your equipment.

For every system ASC installs, we offer the customer an after construction maintenance program. We also solicit new maintenance accounts when requested by our customers. Maintenance programs can be set up for almost any piece of equipment or instrument. Some of the benefits of maintenance programs are.

  • Review of the equipment before it fails
  • Provides history and on going condition of equipment before it fails.
  • Saves money by preventing unnecessary emergency call outs.
  • Saves money by preventing fines imposed for the equipment not functioning and putting your control system out of tolerance.
  • Maintenance labor service rates are less than demand or emergency rates.
  • Preventative notice from the maintenance provider when a piece of equipment may need repair or replacement before it fails.
  • Maintaining accuracy on those instruments and/or meters that are used to charge you or that you use to charge others with.

Maintenance programs can be set up with any frequency desired by the customer. we have set up and currently have weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and bi-monthly. Our maintenance program requires that the frequency of service is more than once each year to qualify. Service rates are generally less than demand service.
